About Puerto Natales City

Puerto Natales is a city placed in the Chilean South and Austral Extreme, on the Señoret Canal bank, between the Admiral Montt Gulf and the Última Esperanza Inlet, in the XII Region of Magallanes and the Chilean Antarctic.

Capital city of Ultima Esperanza’s province. Founded in 1911, located on a top edge of soft slope. City base for excursions to the National Park Torres del Paine, Bernardo O’Higgins and Cave of the Milodón; for which it possesses a good tourist infrastructure.

Puerto Natales is located 247 kms. in the northeast of Punta Arenas City, the black necked Swans and the Seagulls greet the visitors from its important foggy dock, characteristic of this touristic and stock region.

It is located at sea level, at the edge of Señoret Canal and in front of the Patagonian Andes mountain chain. On Winter it is visited for its ski courts in Turbio River and by sea for its mountain glaciars Balmaceda and Serrano, and its seven glaciars located in the Canal de las Montañas.

From the soft slope where is located, the Riesco Mountain Chain, the Paine Massif and the snowdrifts of South Campo de Hielo can be seen. It has a population of 19.000 inhabitants, being the starting point of the most interesting touristic points in the South of the World.
